How Going ‘Green’ Benefits Businesses

People nowadays are becoming increasingly aware of environmental problems.  Green initiatives that promote environmental safety and sustainability are becoming more popular, and a number of economic researches show that when businesses utilize ‘green’ technology, they are more likely to earn public approval, helping raise their profits. Companies like Target and Wal-Mart, for instance, have integrated green methods to their system, resulting in a sales increase of 20% on the green products alone as of 2010.

Case studies show societal marketing, such as emphasizing the environment-friendliness of the brand, provides a company the competitive edge over its competitors. Some of the advantages include increased market share and brand loyalty, better employee retention and more preferential treatment from stakeholders.  It turns out that people tend to gravitate to companies participating for a bigger cause.

One widely-used green technology in the country today is solar energy. Aside from the green marketing advantage, solar technology also helps businesses significantly reduce or even completely get rid of their electric bills.  In addition, it needs little to no maintenance and can last for 25 to 40 years, with most suppliers offering a 25-year warranty.  The government, too, offers tax incentives to encourage companies to utilize solar power.  Needless to say, the technology is a sound investment that can help businesses significantly reduce their operating cost and save considerable amount of money in the long run while contributing to the overall wellness of the environment.
